Dr. Kathie Lunnon CVCP, is certified by the state to perform the veterinary orthopedic manipulation technique.
Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation is safe and effective for a large number of canine and equine conditions. It is a non-surgical approach to spinal disease and lameness.
The VOM “instrument” or device substitutes speed and efficiency for mass and force. Less force is needed to attain a successful adjustive thrust . It completes its adjustive thrust before the muscle reflex has time to resist and is the reason an animal can be adjusted standing, sitting, resisting, in muscle spasm and without sedation or relaxation. This factor alone is the reason that V.O.M. is so successful in treating domestic animals. Patient cooperation is not a factor. Almost every animal I adjust looks forward to their adjustments once gently introduced! Improvement is typically seen within 1 to 5 treatments. In clinical practice only 7-9% do not respond at all.

V.O.M. works by specifically re-mobilizing vertebral segments (called the" subluxation" in this technique), rehabilitating the normal self-generating mechanoreceptor input and closing the pain gate, decreasing inflammation.
V.O.M. is being used for conditions and behaviors such as:
Being reluctant to jump or play
Head Tilting
Difficulty with stairs
Dragging nails or leg(s) when walking
Bladder and/or bowel incontinence
Changes positions frequently
Difficulty getting up after laying down
Reoccurring ear infections
ACL injuries that are from misalignment and consequent muscle spasms that effect the knee joint and over time predispose the animal to injury. I can follow up on an ACL surgery and treat the opposite leg that frequently prevents the occurrence to the opposite leg.
